Incumbent Congressman Lord Allan Q. Velasco is proclaimed as the duly elected Member of the House of Representatives for the Lone District of Marinduque at around 1:30 a.m. May 15, 2016.
Velasco obtained 60,759, with a margin of 11,507 votes over his rival. Velasco won in the municipalities of Sta. Cruz, Torrijos, Buenavista, Gasan and Mogpog.
Delay in the proclamation was caused by the failure to hold elections in Barangay Alobo in Sta. Cruz because ballots intended for said barangay were erroneously sent to Barangay Malalag, Maitum in Sarangani province. The ballots were for 1 clustered precinct with 621 registered voters.
Special elections were held today in Barangay Alobo, the election results of which had to be first received by the municipal board of canvassers before transmitting the completed election results for the entire municipality of Sta. Cruz to the provincial board of canvassers.
