MAKING BIG WAVES: MARINDUQUE AND BELLAROCCA

An offshoot of the “I Travel / I Explore” Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibits (MICE) project in Marinduque last July, participated in by a select group of international tour operators, is the visit to the island-province of top tourism officials headed by no less than tourism secretary, Ace Durano.

Durano visits Marinduque and Bellarocca Island Resort this Sunday, September 6 together with tourism attaches from Philippine embassies abroad to experience the “unique and festive Marinduque” that was given a top rating by the MICE delegates.

The DOT party will be received by Gov. Jose Antonio N. Carrion, Vice-Governor Tomas N. Pizarro, Board Member & SP Tourism Commitee Chair, Yolando Querubin, Provincial Administrator Allan Jay Velasco, and the six mayors who will join the group to Bellarocca. They will also be welcomed by other provincial, municipal and barangay offcials from Gasan.

The “Gasang-Gasang Festival” group of performers will add color to the arrival with their drums and street-dances. Places to visit include Boac Cathedral where the Don Luis Hidalgo Memorial School Choir will render folk songs, the WH Butterfly Farm in Pangi, Gasan, stopping at Gasan’s Trade Exhibit at Guingona Park where prize-winners in the Kalesayahan Festival of decorated calesas are on display. The group will also be welcomed at Lipata, Buenavista by the "Tubaan Festival" group of Bagacay.

At Bellarocca, themed lunch and dinner await the party. Also at the resort, they will have a taste of “kalutang” music, “putong” welcome, “moriones” to complete the ambiance and the famous breath-taking view of Malindig volcano and Marinduque mainland.

Luxury sports and other activities in place at the resort and spa, now a much-talked about place-to-be in the local tourism industry, also await the DOT party. The tourism group departs for Manila the next day via Zest Air.
