Governor Joe Antonio N. Carrion is set to deliver his first State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Monday, July 7 at the Marinduque Capitol Session Hall before his constituents.
In his 2007 Inaugural Address as the newly-elected Governor of the Province of Marinduque, Governor JOSE ANTONIO N. CARRION conveyed his strong resolve to effect positive changes and to bring about economic development in the province of Marinduque during this incumbency. This will be pursued through his 8-point Executive Agenda presented during his inauguration.
He also declared that the thrust of his administration shall be the promotion and development of Marinduque as an emerging eco-cultural tourism destination in the south of Luzon. Through these strategies, he said development will be realized at a faster pace in terms of physical infrastructure, human development, empowered and peaceful communities.
A revitalized provincial government under Gov. Carrion’s leadership is now making headway in achieving these goals and objectives in only the first year of his term of office.
These are manifested in terms of numerous farm-to-market roads both completed and undergoing construction; airport rehabilitation; school buildings; job creation; implementation of a holistic approach in child and youth education; livelihood programs for the marginalized sector; innovative health programs; nutrition programs and hunger mitigation; full implementation of agricultural projects, technology and livelihood development and environmental programs; pioneering programs in culture and tourism; dynamic partnership with non-government organizations; regional cooperation; and maintenance of peace and order.
Gov. Carrion is also expected to report on the damage wrought by typhoon “Frank” in Marinduque and steps his administration has undertaken to respond to the effects of the disaster to crops and property which has been estimated to be close to P 250-million.
